THE Army has its own television star – Pte Star Eggleston.

The 22-year-old driver with 13CSSB was the centre of interest when the TV program Jobs Hub filmed her at both her part-time Army job and her civilian job.

The fortnightly program screens on the Nine Network throughout Western Australia.

The Channel Nine crew, led by TV personality Jessica Turkington, filmed Pte Eggleston at work, from driving her Unimog to firing her weapon at the Weapons Training Simulation System facility, to her civilian employment as an environmental scientist with Perth’s Goldust Associates.

Pte Eggleston is no stranger when it comes to talking to large groups as she helps out the local Reserve Recruiting Centre.
Normally she chats to large groups on what it is like to be a part-time soldier in today’s Army, except her television appearance greatly increased the size of her audience.

“I thought I would be OK with it all, but as soon as that first question came at me, I was as nervous as anything,” she said.
Ms Turkington was impressed that Star could one day be driving an Army truck in the bush, and then solving environmental problems the next.

“I know our audience will love this story … I know I have,” she said.
