Mapping the future THE release of an updated “roadmap” for navigating Network Centric Warfare issues will illustrate the development path and provide a status report on the evolving capability. Network Centric Warfare will link sensors, decision makers and weapons systems to produce a decisive warfighting advantage. The NCW Roadmap 2007 can be found at http://www.defence.gov.au/ capability. Auto pilot UAVs could soon be helping to protect our borders following a successful trial over Australia’s North West Shelf, according to a public report on the trial issued last month. During the trial, a Mariner Demonstrator UAV demonstrated it could successfully monitor suspicious vessels, activate response elements, and transmit images to nearby patrol boats. These results would assist Defence in developing a long-endurance, multi-mission unmanned aerial system. Cav commemorated A PLAQUE recognising the service of the now retired 2/6 Australian Cavalry (Commando) Regiment was unveiled at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra on March 6. The regiment was raised in November 1939 with recruits from as far as the Pacific islands and was deployed to the Middle East two months later. Training area extended DEFENCE will invest more than $3 million to enhance training capabilities at the Majura Training Area over the next 12-18 months. The enhancement is due to greater demand for the training area, predominately by RMC and ADFA cadets. It aims to maintain environmental sustainability by extending the size of the MTA.. |
