BOOSTING playing strength and encouraging women players will be the focus of the 2007 ADF Cup at Wodonga Country Golf Club in North-East Victoria from April 18-20. This year’s program incorporates the ADF Golf Association North-East Victoria Regional Golf Championships and the 25th Royal Australian Army Ordnance Championships. One of the organisers, Capt Paul Henry, said the event was open to all serving and retired ADF members as well as Defence civilians and contractors. As this is the 25th anniversary of the RAAOC Cup, a large number of RAAOC golfers are also expected to compete. “A novice category has been included in the ADF Cup competition to try to encourage golf within the ADF in general and north-east Victoria in particular,” Capt Henry said. “However, novice players will not be eligible to compete for prizes in the ADF Golf Association Regional Handicap Championships or the RAAOC Cup Championships.” He said entries were expected from Victoria, NSW, ACT and Queensland with organisers keen to increase the number of women participants this year. The ADF Cup will be played over 36 holes with round one on April 19 and round two of the stroke event on April 20. Entry is $60.
