Target: A Chinook on operations in Afghanistan.
AN AUSTRALIAN Chinook was shot at during an operating between Tarin Kowt and Kandahar in Afghanistan.

The attack on March 12 is suspected to have been by a rocket- propelled grenade.

The attack came to light when a member of a media contingent on the aircraft reviewed video taken during the transit, which showed the helicopter was engaged. There was no damage to the aircraft.

Director General Public Affairs Brig Gus Gilmore said, “Afghanistan remains a dangerous place, but through their tactics, techniques and procedures, our aircrew are able to fly with a high degree of confidence.”
