AN overarching logistic command structure has been created to provide Australian operations with better coordinated logistics support throughout the MEAO.

The commitment to the reconstruction of Afghanistan and the continuation of rotations in Iraq brought about the need for the enhanced logistic support framework.

The CO of the newly formed Force Level Logistics Asset (FLLA) HQ, Lt-Col Mick Ashleigh, said the FLLA-MEAO was “responsible for linking and enhancing disparate logistic functions and taking an MEAO-wide view of all things logistic”.

“The foundation that has been established by previous FLLA operations has been integral to providing a solid platform from which to launch and establish our new organisation in a rapid manner,” Lt-Col Ashleigh said.

FLLA OC Maj Matt Scanlon sees the new command element as a significant step toward enhancing future logistic capabilities.
“This growth will help us deliver better levels of support to our dependencies, the ADF units operating across the region,” Maj Scanlon said.

The restructure will ensure Australian soldiers receive the best logistical support possible.

The new command team is responsible for managing in-theatre reception and movement of personnel and maintaining the flow of equipment to the various task forces located in the region.
