Centres offer a fair go |
|
IN THE next few months, six Fairness and Resolution Centres will roll out to every major region in Australia to help Army members manage their equity and diversity and complaint and workplace conflict issues. The centres will provide members with access to regionally-based equity and diversity and alternative dispute resolution practitioners and are the latest in a series of Fairness and Resolution Branch initiatives designed to deliver a more flexible, fair, fast and friendly service for Army. Through the centres, Army members can gain a better understanding of the full range of dispute resolution options, make a choice and then work with the practitioner to access the service. According to the Army’s new NT Dispute Resolution practitioner, Maj Murray Pearson, the new centres are “a very important practical development with great potential to enhance combat capability”. “In my years of experience as an Army legal officer, I’ve seen a lot of low-level, personality-based disputes escalate because due regard hasn’t been given to them or the right mix of practical tools haven’t been in place to optimally manage them in the workplace,” Maj Pearson said. The Defence Equity Advice Line can be contacted on 1800 803 831, 1800 644 247 or 1800 626 254. |
