In harmony: With a song in her heart ... and a ration pack in her hand: Pte Elle Vidovich balances a civilian job, her Reserve responsibilities and singing performances.

SHE’S not the very model of a modern major-general – but she’s an excellent private and an impressive singer with the Perth Gilbert and Sullivan Company.

For the past 5½ years Pte Elle Vidovich has been a supply operator with 13 Supply Coy, part of 13 CSSB at Irwin Barracks, Karrakatta.

For the past three years she has also been singing and performing with the Perth Gilbert and Sullivan Company.

“I was influenced because of my older sister; she has been singing opera professionally now for about 22 years,” Pte Vidovich said.

“When I was nine my sister would always get me to sing harmony with her. She would get upset if I didn’t take it too seriously.”

Her musical company will soon start rehearsals for its upcoming musical The Magic of G & S.

And her Reserve company is preparing to take part in the Army Live day on March 24, during which visitors to Irwin Barracks will have the chance to see Army equipment and talk with reservists.

Pte Vidovich certainly recommends service in the Army Reserve.

“It’s now over five years since I first signed up, and the Reserves still present challenges to me,” she said.

“My next big test will be my promotion course, something that I have been looking forward to.”
