Trade transfer consultancy team

Volume 11, No. 61, March 08, 2007

AS PART of the ADF retention and recruiting initiatives, a three-man trade transfer team has been established and its members will visit units over the next few months.

The team, pictured right, consists of WO1s Greg Pearson, Bill Degenaro and Steve Griffiths, who between them have 100 years’ Army experience.

WO1 Griffiths said the team’s mandate was to assist soldiers thinking about a trade transfer and want more details and qualified advice to come to an informed decision.

“This will provide another avenue to technical trades for those soldiers who have served time in combat arms and want to soldier on in specialised fields,” he said.

The team will guide soldiers who meet the selection criteria through the trade transfer procedures. Importantly, their role includes assistance to every link in the chain of command.

“All senior NCOs and WOs should be providing career guidance to their soldiers. Obviously SCMA is the subject matter expert but that does not alleviate providing advice based on personal experiences,” WO1 Griffiths said.

“Those soldiers that apply for trade transfer will still need to meet the educational and psych requirements of the trade they wish to transfer to and also must have the approval of their unit CO.”
