TWO of Army’s premier construction regiments, 21 and 22 Const Regts, have been restructured and are now part of 2 Div. 21 Const Regt joined 5 Bde last September, while 22 Const Regt was welcomed into the division during a parade at Oakleigh Barracks in Melbourne, where Col Michael Kavanach handed over command to 4 Bde. “While it is a sad day for me as I pass responsibility for one of my premier construction regiments over to 4 Bde and 2 Div, I know the regiment will continue to produce outstanding results as you have so ably done for the past 56 years,” Col Kavanach said. In recent years, 22 Const Regt has completed several major construction tasks including providing significant support to the construction of Scherger RAAF Base on Cape York. It has also conducted building programs at remote Aboriginal communities on the Army Aboriginal Community Assistance Programs and members have served in Timor-Leste, Bougainville and the Solomon Islands. |
