Shiver me timbers: The Blue Bell Rickshaw crew puts in during the inaugural running of the Russell Regatta in Afghanistan, but it wasn’t enough as they lost to eventual winners, Sea Biscuit.

IT was far from plain sailing at the inaugural 1RTF Camp Russell Regatta over a tough 800m course on Australia Day.
The five competing boats were: Sinking Ship, Eng Tsk Gp; Sea Biscuit, taped together by 7RAR; the Black Pearl, 2 Cav Regt; the pride of the fleet, Blue Bell Rickshaw, OSS; and AC834, a cracking effort from TF HQ.
At the outset things began to take a turn for the worse as masked Ninjas ambushed competitors with water and flour bombs.
A smoke screen was also later activated and the Black Pearl showed her intentions by “shepherding” the speedy Sea Biscuit and allowing her to sail through unabated to win the regatta.
Sea Biscuit’s crew received the trophy, but it was promptly returned to the RSM as it was far too good for a bunch of pirates.
