AN ADF Aviators’ Reference Manual has standardised general knowledge of aviation subjects for the three Services. Available as a series of 14 books or a single interactive CD, the publication was a two-year joint effort between the ADF and Melbourne-based company the Aviation Theory Centre. Company managing director David Robson handed the first edition of the manual to Commander Australian Navy Aviation Group Cdre Timothy Barrett, the Commander 16 Bde (Avn), Brig Nick Bartels, and the Commander Air Force Training Group Air-Cdre Kevin Paule at its launch in Canberra on December 4. The manual will now be used throughout the ADF to standardise general aeronautical knowledge and to provide comprehensive references for aircrew and others who need the information. Mr Robson said the manual’s ability to be distributed in a single compact disk will allow aircrew to take copies with them wherever they go. “The PAARM is an electronic library of 14 manuals with extensive cross-referencing, indexing and powerful search tools, with 4500 pages and more than 2000 full-colour illustrations,” he said. The manual will be updated annually during the 10-year contract to keep pace with developments. For further information on the PAARM visit http://intranet.defence.gov.au/armyweb/Sites/PAARM/ |
