WRA gets the nod

Volume 11, No. 56, November 16, 2006

By Will Van Weerdenburg
Military Salaries and Allowances – Policy

ADF members’ salary and salary-related allowances will increase by 4.2 per cent from November 16.

This is the first of four increases over the next three years under the new Workplace Remuneration Arrangement (WRA) recently approved by the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal (DFRT).

Members will see the change in their pay slips from November 30. The increases apply to all members up to the rank of major-general.

Member support was a key factor the DFRT examined when considering approval of the WRA pay increases.

Commanders were tasked to survey their units and 62 per cent of about 26,900 ADF members surveyed supported the proposed pay increases.

The new WRA will increase ADF salary by a total of 12.6 per cent, paid in nine-month increments over the three year period of the arrangement.

The pay increases are:

  • 4.2 per cent with effect from November 16, 2006
  • 2.8 per cent with effect from August 9, 2007
  • 2.8 per cent with effect from May 1, 2008
  • 2.8 per cent with effect from February 5, 2009

The pay rise for brigadiers and major-generals was included in the Star Ranks Remuneration Arrangement (SRRA) 2006-2009, which has the same increases and dates of effect as the WRA.
A brochure detailing the new pay rates will be included in the next edition of Army.
