THE Prime Minister’s recent announcement that the ARA would be boosted to 30,000 means more soldiers are needed – fast.

And CA Lt-Gen Peter Leahy wants to enlist the help of diggers to help create Army’s future recruiting imagery through a new recruiting poster design competition.

“The new recruiting campaign must be dynamic, contemporary and, above all, hard hitting, in line with the HNA concept,” Lt-Gen Leahy said.

“The men and women of the Army have a long and proud tradition of contributing imagery on various subjects over the past century, and I am looking to you to achieve this task.”

He said ideas needed to be original with an emphasis on the modern soldier.

“They can also focus on the Army’s role in an ever-changing environment, with a strong message on its future development,” he said.

The winning entry will be decided by the CA and RSM-A WO Kevin Woods. The winner will receive either a computer with Adobe Photoshop CS2 software, or art supplies at an equivalent cost.

“I know that with the corporate knowledge and skill that exists, along with the ingenuity that Australian soldiers are renowned for, you will provide a common sense solution to a difficult problem,” the CA said.

“I want you to show me what kind of images appeal to people like you, to your friends, to the people we want in the Army.

“I encourage the men and women of the Army to design and submit a pictorial image that might be used as part of the wider recruiting campaign to attract people into the Australian Army.”
