Big hit: Cpl Adam Spry takes charge.

CPL Adam Spry’s stellar 2006 hockey season continues with his naming as captain of ADF men’s hockey team to contest the Australian Country Hockey Championships in Bendigo.
The titles, which will be held from July 29 to August 6, have provided a good springboard to further past honours for Cpl Spry.

After competing with the ADF team in the Australian Country Championships last year, he was selected in the Australian Country team that toured Fiji in March.

After a strong performance at the Australian Country Championships and in the 2005 Darwin first-grade competition, Cpl Spry, from 1CER, was selected in the Northern Territory Stingers team to compete in the Australian Hockey League.

Scoring the winning goal against NSW, the reigning AHL champion, opened his national debut on a great note.

Despite strong performances for the Stingers against stiff opposition, it was unfortunate that he was unable to take his position in the team for the finals series in Hobart because of service training course requirements.
Cpl Spry continued his string of fine performances when he won the Terry Turner Medal for best and fairest at the 2006 ADF Hockey Championships.
