Rwanda ASMs
to be replaced
Volume 11, No. 46, June 29, 2006
MORE than 630 ADF personnel who served in Rwanda are eligible to have their ASM replaced with the AASM with Rwanda clasp.
The Directorate of Honours and Awards (DHA) advises members that each ASM will need to be returned. The Governor-General will cancel each ASM before approving the AASM. DHA said the AASM would not be issued unless the ASM was handed in, although this would not apply to members who hold other clasps to the ASM.
In February, the Government reclassified service on Operation Tamar in Rwanda as warlike.
As a result of the upgrade in the recognition of service, members will now also be eligible for the award of the Returned from Active Service Badge.
DHA will release a signal soon that will provide more details.
To apply for the AASM, complete the application form AC694 which is available on the DHA web site at http://www.defence.gov.au/dpe/dpe_site/honours_awards.
