DFRT approves of multimedia techs
Volume 11, No. 44, June 01, 2006
 |
New name, new structure: After the review at SME, members of the DFRT said all soldiers involved were to be congratulated for their professionalism and passion in their trade. |
DRAMATIC changes, because of technology and operational requirements, has seen the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal (DFRT) approve a new trade structure, pay groups and name for soldiers employed as ECN 180 Illustrator Reprographics.
The change – to ECN 180 Multimedia Technician (MMT), covers 51 personnel in the RAE – became effective on May 3. The trade had not been reviewed for remuneration since its inception in 1979.
The multimedia technicians are posted across a broad spectrum of Army positions, working in 2D/3D animations, PsyOps, graphics for doctrine, audio and visual displays and AutoCAD products.
The DFRT inspection of the trade’s capability was held at SME in March with tribunal members saying they were impressed and that the inspection was a key factor in their decision and that all soldiers involved were to be congratulated.
The trade will move from the previous two-tiered/graded structure to a two-tiered structure covering three grades with grade one MMT at pay group four and grades two and three at pay group five. The pay increase will take effect and be backdated to the date of the DFRT decision.
