Minister visits deployed troops

Tour of duty: Minister for Defence Dr Brendan Nelson is briefed on the capabilities of the ASLAV by Maj Malcolm Wells, commander of the Security Detachment in Baghdad.

The Minister was on his first visit to troops overseas since being appointed to the Defence portfolio and visited several parts of the MEAO before flying on to Afghanistan. During his tour, Dr Nelson met and spoke with a large number of troops.
