year.

THE
ADF Cup is set to take place at the Wodonga Country Golf Club
from May 3-5.
During the past 24 years, this event was formerly known as the
Defence Force Cup and the Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps
(RAAOC) Cup. The 2006 event incorporates the ADF Golf association
North East Victoria Regional Golf Championships and the 24th Royal
Australian Army Ordnance Championship.
Captain Paul Henry said the event is open to all serving and retired
ADF members, as well as Defence civilians and contractors.
Previously, the Defence Force and RAAOC Cups have been held
in the Albury-Wodonga area, and through the efforts and commitment
of the Wodonga Country Club Golf Professional, Mr Bernie Squire,
Wodonga Country Club has been able to secure the ADF Cup event
for 2006, he said.
The Cup will be played over 36 holes with round one being on May
4.
Round two of the stroke event will be played on May 5, while the
Wodonga Golf Club members stableford competition sponsored by
the ADF Cup Golf Committee will be conducted on May 3.
Organisers, who expect entries from throughout Vic, NSW, ACT and
Qld. They are also keen to increase the number of women participants
this year.
In an effort to encourage golf within Defence and NorthEast
Victoria, a novice category has been included in the ADF Cup Competition,
however, novice players will not be eligible to compete for prizes
in the ADF Golf Association Regional Handicap Championship or
the RAAOC Cup Championship.
A maximum of 120 players will be set for the first and second
round of the championship, with first preference being given to
serving and retired Defence members, Defence civilians and Defence
contractors holding a current AGU or WGA handicap.
Entry is $60. Contact Capt Paul Henry (02) 6055 4608 or WO2 Tony
Venables (02) 6055 2307 to obtain entry packages and details of
available T-shirts.
