Pay rise hits bank

Volume 11, No. 39, March 23, 2006

ADF members will see a little extra money in their pay packets today after the latest salary and salary-related allowances increase took effect on 9 March 2006.

The increase of 1.5 per cent applies to all members of the ADF up to Maj-Gen and equivalent and is the last instalment of the current Workplace Remuneration Arrangement (WRA) and Star Ranks Remuneration Arrangement (SRRA).

Head DPE, Maj-Gen Mark Evans, said the WRA and SRRA were the military versions of workplace bargaining.

“They deliver across-the-board pay rises for ADF members in return for improvements in Defence productivity,” Maj-Gen Evans said.

“The current arrangements – which have delivered a 10 per cent increase in ADF salaries and related allowances since May 2004 – will expire on November 3, 2006 and work has already started on the development of their replacements.

Maj-Gen Evans said consultation with members was an important component of the WRA process and members’ views would be taken into account as the new arrangements were developed.

Details of the consultation process will be advised through the chain of command.

For more information, go to the Workplace Remuneration Arrangement link on the Defence Pay and Conditions web site www.defence.gov.au/dpe/pac or DEFWEB http://intranet.defence.gov.au/pac The new pay rates are listed in an insert in this edition.
