Chief hails best prepared force

CA Lt-Gen Peter Leahy has congratulated AMTG personnel for creating a successful operating organisation from 57 different units of the ADF.

During his recent visit to Iraq, Lt-Gen Leahy said AMTG2 was regarded as the best prepared force to have left Australian shores.

AMTG2 CO Lt-Col Peter Short welcomed him to Camp Smitty on the outskirts of As Samawah. CA toured the operational area and saw the progress achieved since Australian forces first deployed in As Samawah in May.

He also met Iraqi Army personnel. The Commander of 2 Bde (10 Div), Brig Hossein, discussed the areas still in need of attention, but expressed appreciation and admiration for the professionalism displayed by Australian Army Training Team personnel.
