Uniform assistance

THE Australian Government has presented the Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF) with $1 million worth of field uniforms at a ceremony at Murray Barracks in Port Moresby.

The presentation of the uniforms is a part of the government’s continuing commitment to the PNGDF Reform Program.

The Kumul pattern field uniforms, boots and hats will equip the 2000 personnel who will be in the PNGDF after the force is downsized.

Defence Minister Senator Robert Hill said Australia was assisting PNGDF achieve its objective of becoming a more capable and sustainable force.

Twenty ADF military advisers currently work with the PNGDF in operational planning, training, logistics, maritime security, governance, assistance and advisory roles.
