Security
exercise pegged for April
NEXT
year ADF personnel will take part in a major Proliferation Security
Initiative (PSI) exercise around Darwin.
Exercise Pacific Protector 06, to be held in April, is designed
to reflect PSI standards to disrupt and deter illicit shipments
of weapons, their delivery systems and related materials to terrorists.
The exercise is expected to attract representatives from a number
of countries in the region and around the world.
More than 60 countries have expressed their support for PSI.
Minister for Defence, Senator Robert Hill said the exercise would
demonstrate Australias continuing strong support for PSI.
It is designed to send a clear message to terrorists that
their activities can, and will be stopped, Mr Hill said.
