THE
crazy charge of the Light Horse that led to the capture
of Beersheba in 1917 has been celebrated in the Iraqi desert.
Soldiers of 2 Cav Regt with the AMTG in southern Iraq 996km
from Beersheba carved up a magnificent cake to mark the
anniversary which is also recognised as the regiments
official birthday on October 31.
The youngest member of the cavalry element, Tpr Brendan Higgs,
cut the cake with an Iraqi dagger, watched by AMTG CO Lt-Col Roger
Noble.
2 Cav Regt traces its origins to the Light Horse in World War
I and wears the blue on blue colour patch of the 4th
Light Horse Regiment.
