Alpine
Association celebrates 30 years
THE
Army Alpine Association (AAA) has celebrated 30 years of mountain
adventures, with a day of climbing at Booroomba Rocks outside
Canberra and a celebratory dinner.
AAA Patron Maj-Gen Mike Hindmarsh delivered the keynote address
to the assembled members. He highlighted the important role the
AAA plays in providing ADF members with challenges outside their
normal training.
He said it was important that the ADF continue to provide challenging
opportunities like mountaineering to further develop the individual
and group values core to the success of the Defence Force.
Although there is a current ban on Army overseas adventurous training,
the AAA continues to offer a range of activities within Australia.
