Award for online learning

THE Defence online learning system Campus has been awarded the prestigious Computerworld Honours Program’s 21st Century Achievement Award for 2005.

Accepting the award, Secretary of Defence Ric Smith drew attention to the fact that Defence has implemented the largest whole of organisation flexible learning strategy in Australia, setting a global benchmark. The award, in the Education and Academia category, recognises the tremendous efforts of the Directorate of Defence Flexible Learning Solutions in establishing the online Campus facility.

“This is an outstanding achievement and is one that places the online facility unambiguously as world’s best practice,” he said. “It reflects positively on Defence and is a great credit to all those involved in its development.”

The efforts of the ADO in this sphere are now available to over 100 universities around the world where they are used as case studies in online education.

Campus provides quality training in areas ranging from administrative business skills through to frontline operational and peacekeeping operations.

Any member of Defence can access the courses on Campus from the DRN at http//defweb.cbr.defence.gov.au/det/campus/ by entering their employee ID/PMKeyS number and the password DOMAIN.
