CAGING Brisbanites in Anzac Square was acceptable, even encouraged, recently as part of the RSL Girl in a Million Quest.

SCdt Danielle Graham, QUR, is one of the hopefuls and took part in the fundraiser with the support of her civilian employer, Toll Transitions.

SCdt Graham said she became involved in the yearlong quest to keep busy while her partner was deployed to Iraq.

She said she saw the event as an opportunity to say thanks to Australia’s veterans.

The caged “prisoners” made bail through private fundraising as well as participating in competitions that added to their fundraising total.

Activities included breaking peanuts to a deadline and quizzes along with the ubiquitous sausage sizzle, badges and an Art Union with a $10,000 cash prize.

District finals of the quest are held in November, when a finalist and charity queen are chosen to represent each district at State Finals Week in December.

Further information on SCdt Graham’s Girl in a Million quest is located at http://girlinamillion.ireckon.com.
