SCMA is currently conducting an audit of all approved
Army mascots in order to update their records.
Sgt Tony Wilson, of SCMA, said some of the more unusual
characters to come to light were LCpl Crock- Soult-Water
and Spr Cerikey the Goanna, with one unit even seeking
advice on how to obtain a rhinoceros as a mascot.
A lack of response to previous requests has led to a further
call for information on our unique soldiers.
In addition, SCMA is also seeking information on current
working animals such as detection dogs.
Should your unit have its own mascot or an animal that
is dutifully employed, the following information is sought:
registration number, rank, name, type of animal, position
held (mascot or guard dog etc) and unit.
Information and inquiries can be directed to Sgt Tony
Wilson at SCMA on 03) 5258 0676 or email scma.hire@defence.gov.au
