A
NEW $21.6 million DHA housing development at Adamstown has been
named after a VC winner.
The estate, which will feature 68 Defence homes, honours Capt
Clarence Jeffries.
Capt Jeffries, originally from Wallsend near Adamstown, was killed
in action at Passchendale in Belgium on October 12, 1917, while
protecting his men under extreme conditions.
Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Defence Teresa Gambaro
opened the estate on April 26. Work is expected to be completed
by the end of the year.
“The provision of high quality housing for ADF members is one
way that we can help to make life a little bit easier for these
brave Australians and their families who are often posted to various
locations while completing their service,” Ms Gambaro said.
