Gun
slingers sought for slippery mission
BIATHLON
participants are being sought by the Army Nordic Skiing Association
(ANSA), for Army team selection in Exercise Cool Shot, July 31
to August 7, and for Interservice competition, August 8-13.
Biathlon is a sport that combines cross-country skiing with 22
calibre rifle shooting, and demands endurance and precision.
The first phase of Ex Cool Shot will include a teaching phase
where participants receive expert instruction from national biathlon
coaches.
The second phase is an interservice competition where each of
the three services fiercely contest the RAN Ski Club Trophy, awarded
to the champion service.
Competitors will be fortunate to use new targets imported from
Norway and experience a refurbished and expanded range thanks
to the efforts of 22 Const Regt who completed major works at the
range in early 2004.
Last year cadets from four Army Cadet units christened the range
in an interschool competition.
