This is what metal should sound like, stripped down to its basic elements. Lightning fast drums, grinding rhythm guitars and fingertip-shredding solos are the traditional metal ingredients that make this album great.

It seems that all those secret bedroom air-guitar sessions to Metallica that everybody does, yet nobody admits to, have paid off for these boys, and that passion has translated through into their music. I’m going to buy this album again.

Once more with feeling

For those who are only familiar with Placebo’s Pure Morning or The Bitter End, this album is a great show-case of the band’s singles produced between 1996-2004.

But I understand if you can’t stand lead singer Molko’s nasally voice, or the oppressed-teenage style lyrics.
