Personnel

Reporting is key

HISTORICALLY, upward reporting has been used to gather personnel-related information from subordinate commands. Units were required to gather current personnel data and present unit-level reports in what was not a time-effective approach to personnel administration. With PMkeyS, the Army can change this approach and reduce the associated workload.

Personnel-related reports can be extracted directly from PMKeyS, so it’s essential for staff of.cers to be conversant with PMKeyS Reporting. Guidance can be obtained from members of the clerk admin trade who have received training in PMKeyS Reporting or online at http://defweb. cbr.defence.gov.au/pmkeys/, from the following links: Key Documents/PMKeyS Reporting Guide; Reporting/several documents; Army/Welcome/Running PMKeyS Reports to MS Excel; Army/Army PMKeyS eNews/Index – look up Reports and then locate the respective eNews release.

PMKeyS reports are only as good as the data they draw on and all units should ensure their respective HR data is current. DCA Directive 1/2003 Army Personnel Information Management Plan assigns responsibilities and tasks intended to improve data quality and integrity of PMKeyS reports and should be reviewed now.

From here on, upward reporting is discouraged where PMKeyS already provides suitable reports. In due course, AHQ expects that DPE will introduce improvements to PMKeyS Reporting, known as PMKeyS Reporting Solutions.
