DI(G) the new leave admin

Improvements to the administration of civilian and military leave has resulted in the release of a new DI(G) that provides guidance to Defence members.

David Spouse, Acting Director General, Resource Management – Personnel Executive, said DI(G) ADMIN 60-2 defined accountability for leave policy and procedures, and was the initial reference for the administration of all types of Defence leave.

“The instruction also provides direction to leave transactors and equally applies to individual ADF members and APS employees, who are ultimately responsible for the accuracy of their leave balances,” he said.

Key points of the new DI(G) include:

  • uAll ADF and APS personnel are responsible for planning, obtaining supervisory approval, recording and taking leave to which they are entitled, and for ensuring their leave balance is accurate.
  • uSupervisors are responsible for planning, recommending and approving leave, and for confirming that the entitlement has been taken and recorded. Defence civilians are to have all leave plans recorded on their Plan on a Page.

Group Heads are responsible for:

  • Management of leave balances in accordance with Secretary and CDF directives.
  • Ensuring that all people in their group plan, take and record leave.
  • Ensuring that their administrative processes enable entitlements to be recorded correctly on PMKeyS.
  • The conduct of random spot checks on leave records to ensure compliance.
  • DI(G) ADMIN 60-2 can be located online through Defence Documents on the DRN.
