Police association invites soldiers to join UN Day March

THE United Nations Police Association of Australia (UNPAA) and the United Nations Association of Australia, (UNAA), invite members of the Australian Army, Navy and Air Force who have served with UN forces, to join their Australian Police colleagues in the annual UN Day March and Cenotaph Wreath Laying Ceremony in Sydney on October 24.

March participants will assemble at Hospitable Road, Sydney, behind State Parliament House at 9.30am.

Participants will march off at 10.30am led by the NSW Police Mounted Troop, motor cyclists and the NSW Police’s military band.

The Australian Federal Police Honour Guard will be the Flag Party on the day. The NSW Commissioner of Police, Ken Maroney, will inspect the police before the march.

The VIP at the Cenotaph Ceremony will be the NSW Minister for Justice. Senior AMF Officers have been invited separately to the wreath Laying Ceremony at the Cenotaph.

NSW and Australian Federal Police would like to invite those members of the Australian military forces with whom they jointly served overseas, particularly in East Timor and the Solomon Islands to join them for this UN Day March. Korean War Veterans will also be invited to participate.

Dress is uniform of the day with decorations, with blue UN beret worn if availabe and regimentally approved.

Route of March: Macquarie St to Pitt St, south along Pitt St and then right into Martin Place. The parade will be dismissed at the Cenotaph at the conclusion of the ceremony at about 11.50am.

AHQ advice is that soldiers may attend the parade only when they have approval to do so from their Commanders.
