THE SCHOOL of Military Engineering (SME) Transport Section (Tpt Sect) will provide a supporting role for a 6200km fundraising trek across the outback throughout September and October.

The Bourke Police and Community Trek is an annual fundraising event that is in its 21st year.

Cpl Greg Martin arranged for the Tpt Sect to be involved in the trek and said the support from the Army would be needed for breakdowns, heavy equipment transportation and other manning tasks.

“This is the second time SME has been involved with the trek and will provide extra manning at check points, helping the band set up and vehicle recovery,” he said.

The charity event raises funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service and youth orientated charity groups in the Bourke district.
