Child care changes

By Sgt Sybelle Foxcroft

The Defence Child Care Program (DCCP) helps ADF members and their families access childcare by providing 19 long day care centres and four outside school hours care facilities around Australia.

The program also provides access to child care places through selected family day care schemes. The defence long day care and out of school hours care management contract will expire on June 30.

The Defence people committee recently approved a procurement process that will seek proposal from the childcare industry to manage these two facilities to meet the needs of ADF families.

A project team of representatives has been formed to oversee this procedure, which includes a close inspection of the facilities. Families who have children in these centres or facilities will be advised of the inspection time and date for their centre.

The Defence Child Care Program and Project Team will provide regular updates on developments in the program.
