Army farewells a friend

WO2 Nigel Southam, born September 16, 1966, was recently killed in WA in a motor vehcile accident.

WO2 Southam enlisted in the Army December 4, 1984.

He served first in the RAA at 8/12 Mdm Regt.

He later corps transferred to RACMP.

While an MP he served with 9 MP Coy, 1 MP Coy, 1RTB, 4 MP Coy, 1RTB, 11 MP Pl, 21 MP Pl, 1 MP Bn, SD – NQ, CSI-NQ and finally at CSI WA where his discharge was pending.

During his Army career WO2 Southam was awarded the DFSM and the ASM with the Bougainville Bar.

While in Bougainville, WO2 discovered a WW2 US battleground while on patroll in Torokina.

WO2 Southam given a military funeral at Fremantle Cemetry July 9.

WO2 Southam was survived by his daughers Tjana and Bekki.
