ARMY
netballers came within striking distance of the trophy at the
WA Interserevice Netball Competition on July 20, but had to settle
for second to a consistently strong Navy side.
The first game was between Navy and Air Force, the sailors coming
out on top 37-13.
For game two, Army entered the fray against a rebounding Air Force
side, holding them off to win 30-28.
Air Force’s two losses meant the final game between Navy and Army
would be a play-off for the trophy.
At the end of the first quarter the game could have been anyone’s,
with scores locked at 9-9.
But in the second half, the Navy broke away to a 13-point lead.
It was far too great a deficit for Army to come back from, and
the final score was 42-23.
