The RSM
"Our Padre is one of the best I've ever seen. On one hand he is so unregimental - and he stirs me deliberately. I saw him return a salute the other day with a clenched fist to the side of the head, like in Life of Brian. I shook my head in wonderment. Yet, he is deeply involved in the lives of our people. The advice he gives is priceless, because it includes the direct and often complicated observations of the soldier from deep within the unit, which is essential for an accurate picture of what is really going on. I also appreciate the way our Padre interacts so closely with the immediate chain of command to assist our people. We learn an incredible amount from our Padre. Also, we are able to utilise him straight away to prevent simple situations from developing into nightmares. I'm not religious, but every unit should have a chaplain."
