CHINOOK pilot and noted artist Capt Conway Bown has released a new Gulf War 2 artwork, featuring Chinook helicopters of C Sqn, 5 Avn Regt.

“Desert Chooks” depicts two Chinooks flying low over the desolate terrain of the Middle East Area of Operations.

They were part of the detachment of three C Sqn Chinooks deployed to support Coalition special forces.

Capt Bown said the work had a duel purpose.

“I wanted to keep a visual image from the conflict and, at the same time, raise some money for two worthy charities,” he said.

Profits from the sale of a special limited edition series of 100 signed prints and 200 standard prints will be donated to Careflight Helicopter Rescue Service and to Veterans Australia, an organisation that helps veterans with counselling.

Capt Bown aims to raise a total of $20,000 for the two charities from the sale of the prints.

The limited edition prints feature the signatures of the Prime Minister, John Howard, The CDF, Gen Peter Cosgrove, and Comd 16 Bde (Avn) Brig Anthony Fraser.

For more information and to order, visit www.ipas.com.au or call Capt Bown on 0419 028 798.
