ASLAV down in Baghdad

A SECDET ASLAV was involved in a motor vehicle accident outside Baghdad on Friday May 28.

The accident occurred at about 4pm (Eastern Standard Australian Time) while moving with a second ASLAV on a routine convoy task about 10km north-west of Baghdad.

Six Australian soldiers travelling in the ASLAV were injured, mainly suffered minor injuries and lacerations. The soldiers were given immediate first aid before being evacuated by helicopter to a military hospital in Baghdad where they received specialist treatment and care. Five of the soldiers were released from hospital, one remained overnight for observation.
