ADF
tip-top tenpin tally
VETERAN
bowler WO2 Clive Thompson, 3HSB, showed stamina and skill to claim
the GB Plate at the ADF Tenpin Bowling Associations National
Championships in early June.
The popular South Australian Combined Services representative with
the punishing back-up style qualified equal fourth, then eliminated
the top scorers one by one in close competition. WO2 Thompsons
success was especially memorable as he twice needed to convert splits,
the dreaded hazard of all bowlers, to win a match.
Teams from five states assembled at the Belconnen Centre Canberra
to compete in the annual singles, teams, and masters competitions.
NSW again emerged as National Champions, with ACT the runner-up.
In the singles competition, RAAF bowler Sgt Mark Seagrave from Williamtown
dominated with an impressive 198 average over 10 games.
ACT bowler AB Mark Tapper won the premier individual competition
in a hard-fought elimination shoot-off. The nationals were conducted
at a high standard with healthy interstate rivalry.
