ADF
hosts joint demo
THE
ADF Warfare Centre (ADFWC) at RAAF Williamtown and the Information
Capability Development Branch (ICDB) are gearing up to host this
year's Joint Warrior Interoperability Demonstration (JWID2004),
in June.
Since
1995, JWID has been conducted annually as an initiative of the US
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, in which Australia, Canada,
UK, New Zealand and NATO countries participate.
Designed
to explore emerging command, control, communications, computers,
intelligence, surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) technologies,
concepts and procedures in a simulated operational scenario, JWID
provides an ideal sandpit to trial emerging technologies.
DG
ICDB, Cmdr Peter Jones, has issued invitations to the ADF and the
Australian Information Electronic Systems Association to attend
visitors' week June 21-24.
Cmdr
Jones said the ADF was committed to supporting the activity and
an Integrated Project Team, lead by ICDB, was managing Australia's
involvement.
"The
ADF will host eight Australian Interoperability Trials and take
part in 16 Coalition Interoperability Trials," he said.
The
trials were selected to address the ADF operational focus areas
endorsed by the Interoperability Leaders Group in 2003.
The
scenario is based around a Global War on Terrorism construct. While
the majority of Australian activities will be conducted at ADFWC,
Australia's participation in the Multinational Naval Task Group
trial will be conducted from DNC4ISREW's facility at Campbell Park,
with DSTO Edinburgh supporting the activity.
