Joint Log to implement lessons learnt

By Barbara Pepper
ADF joint logistics are set to benefit from the decision to implement recommendations based on lessons learnt during operations in the Middle East last year.

The changes are based on an evaluation of ADF logistic support to Ops Bastille and Falconer.

The subsequent report identified 81 key issues, proposed 43 lessons learnt and offered 90 recommendations.

The Chiefs of Service Committee endorsed the report and responsibility was given to Commander Joint Logistics Maj-Gen Peter Haddad, to implement the recommendations.

A project team has recently been established within Strategic Logistics Branch, Joint Logistics Command, and the team have identified some areas for potential early implementation, such as:

  • Improved postal support to operations.
  • Doctrine for Mounting Base operations.
  • Improved quarantine arrangements for equipment returning to Australia; and
  • Technological enhancements to logistic information systems to improve cargo tracking and handling.
