Army
strike bad luck in the bowling alley

ARMY bowlers struggled to keep up with highly accurate Navy and
Air Force contingents at the NSW Inter-service Tenpin Bowling Competition,
held at Castle Hill Tenpin Bowling Centre on May 7.
Each
service fielded a team of 12 players, divided into four teams of
three. A total of nine games were played in blocks of three games,
with teams changing lanes after each block.
The
total pin-fall for each service would determine the overall inter-service
winner. The two highest average players from each services selection
event were automatically selected into the NSW side to ensure representation
from each service. The top six average players on the day were also
selected into the NSW team.
The
competition started well, with several bowlers achieving 200-plus
scores. By the end of the fourth game, it was very close with the
Navy on 2142 pins, the Air Force on 2124 pins and the Army struggling
on 1777 pins.
The
Air Force continued with high-scoring games and, by the end of the
ninth game, was 287 pins in front of Navy to ultimately win NSW
Inter-service Tenpin Bowling competition with a total of 19046 pins,
second was the Navy with 18759 pins and third was Army with 15367
pins.
Best
and fairest for the tournament was LAC Mick Walker with an average
of 213 for the nine games.
