THE
wait will soon be over for officer posting orders as staff at the
Directorate of Officer Career Management-Army (DOCM-A) prepare for
distribution.
DOCM-A
staff are currently preparing about 2300 posting orders, of which
they say 85 per cent will be promulgated on July 1, 2004.
Officers
can also expect to begin receiving removal packages from DHA from
July 5, 2004.
The
delay is expected because DHA will migrate to a new IT system in
the first week of July, and expect distribution of removal packs
to commence shortly afterward.
Maj
Roger Symons, DOCM-A, said that personnel staff in units and formations
should still expect posting orders to be issued on July 1, however,
and plan their 2005 staffing accordingly.
"A
postings moratorium will be in force from July to August 3, 2004,
to allow all posting orders to be disseminated," he said.
"DOCM-A
will receive feedback from units and formations between August 14
and September 6, 2004, and log issues for resolution.
"However,
these issues cannot include discussion on the numbers of officers
allocated to units under the Army Personnel Establishment Plan (APEP)
as this issue has already been considered and approved by the Army
Capability Management Committee (ACMC)."
From
September 7 to 23, all other issues will be considered and the results
will be promulgated on September 24, 2004.
"After
that date, all planned geographic locations will be locked-in. This
means that officers will still be posted to the planned location
as at September 24, 2004.
"The
reason for this deadline is to provide a higher degree of certainty
for families and officers to plan removals, spouse's employment,
child care and schooling."
"Over
recent years, repechages to postings have arrived throughout October
and November, which disadvantages members who are subsequently dislodged
from their postings. Staff at DOCM-A are looking to minimise that
effect this year."
Posting
orders involving overseas moves will be promulgated by signal.
