Extra
pay, extra tax
FINANCIAL
year (FY) 04/05 will yield 27 paydays instead of the usual 26,
causing a minor tax headache.
Removal
policy woes
Purchasing
and living in one's own home is often referred to as "the
great Australian dream", but when it comes to ADF members
purchasing their own home in a current posting location that dream
can easily turn into a nightmare.
DOCM-A
warns of deadline
THE
wait will soon be over for officer posting orders as staff at
the Directorate of Officer Career Management-Army (DOCM-A) prepare
for distribution.
Time
to train officers
CA
LT-GENPeter Leahy has endorsed a cohort management plan to clear
the large training backlog of officers requiring the Intermediate
Operations Course (IOC)/Grade Two (G2) course in the All Corps
Officer Training Continuum (ACOTC).

SCMA
correction
IN
THE previous SCMA article on Soldier Administration, a paragraph
referring to Long Service Leave (LSL) incorrectly outlined administrative
requirements for Leave Without Pay (LWOP).
The paragraph should have read:
SCMA approves periods of LWOP greater than three months. Factors
considered by SCMA are detailed in the Army Pay and Conditions
Manual, but two prime factors are the recommendation by the soldier's
unit and a stated intent by the soldier to return at the end of
LWOP.
The soldier's unit will confirm they are willing to accept the
vacancy. Applications must be received at SCMA six weeks before
the requested commencement date to ensure the soldier is not paid
during LWOP. LWOP will not be approved for any period before discharge.
Procedures
for visiting SCMA
Visits
are a very important part of SCMAs business as they help
promote a better understanding of its core task - soldier career
management.
Please make
yourself familiar with SCMA's policy on arranging visits.
