A
high competitor and massive supporter turnout marked the 2004 Australian
Services Triathlon Association event in which 7 Bde was the sponsor
and standout performer.
More than 170 competitors left the blocks in the Enoggera-based
event, in which outright honours went to Capt David Little, CSI-B,
with a time of 1: 07:59, while in the women’s event Cpl Janet Krommenhoek,
7 Sig Regt, took home victory in 1:14:11.
Victory in the Open 7 Bde category went to Sgt Tim Costin, 7CSSB,
who finished in 1:09:42.
Coordinator Capt Eric Kerr, 7 CSSB, said the 2km run, 200m swim,
20km ride, 200m swim and 4km run under perfect autumn conditions
had been the largest military triathlon carnival in Queensland.
“It involved the Army, Air Force, defence civilian personnel and
people from Bulimba and all over South East Queensland – it was
a very successful event,” he said.
“At the end of the year is the ADF long-course championships and
that will be the next step that category winners can go to.” 7 Bde
made a clean sweep of the men’s team outright event with Team 2CER
first in 1:06:05, and 2/14LHR(QMI) teams Tiger Shark and Orca finishing
a close second and third with 1:06:25 and 1:14: 20 respectively.
The DJFHQ team took out the women’s event in 1:24:44.n.
