Australian to enter Iraq anti-terror HQ

MAJ-GEN Jim Molan has been appointed as the Deputy for Operations in the soon-to-be-established Multinational Force Coalition HQ in Iraq.

Maj-Gen Molan will be responsible for planning missions that include finding and destroying terrorist cells, patrolling areas where anti-aircraft missiles may be fired from and providing protection to the Iraqi and coalition community.

He will take up his position later this month.

The new coalition military command structure is currently being formed in the lead-up to the transition to Iraqi sovereignty expected in July.

The new HQ will be responsible for security and anti-insurgency operations in Iraq.
