Red
Cross will keep your blood flowing
WHILE
the Army commemorates Easter and Anzac Day this month and soldiers
raise a glass to mates past and present, one organisation is dreading
that it will be bleeding away during the period.
The
Australian Red Cross Blood Service fears it will receive up to
12,000 fewer blood collections across Australia during April because
of public holidays and families away from home on leave.
The
blood service does not seek money from the community, despite
its charter to support patients in all hospitals, 24 hours a day,
365 days a year.
But
it does need more than 4000 blood donations are needed every day
to meet the needs of patients.
The
Red Cross requests the support of Army personnel in attracting
more donors to visit a blood collection centre, particularly in
NSW, during this crucial period.
You
won't bleed to death if you raise the Army's profile as socially
responsible and compassionate and donate that pint you don't really
need.
