Warriors impress at national titles

By Cpl Cameron Jamieson
THE ADF's touch footballers, the Defence Warriors, have wowed the National Touch League at Coffs Harbour NSW.

One hundred ADF personnel, including 10 referees, were sent to the competition.

Five teams were fielded altogether - a women's over 30 team and men's over 30, 35, 40 and 50 teams.

Overall the combined Defence Warriors teams came 13th out of 18 franchises, their best effort ever at the national level.

The national competition is the biggest event that any Defence player can play in under the ADF banner

It is from this competition that an Australian side will be selected to compete in the European Championship later this year.

RAAF Reserve Sgt John Samin, received the men's over 35's player of the series award

Four ADF members have been offered a place in the Australian teams to compete in Europe.

WO2 Greg Taylor has been selected as the Senior Team Manager, an example of how valuable ADF management skills are to civilian organisations.

The ADF Touch Association is keen to attract more players of all ages.

There are lunchtime competitions held in numerous locations across the country and as the results show, you're never to old to get in touch.
